Welcome. You are looking at a great piece. This is the 1980's 48th Custom NYC Electric Guitar. 25.5" scale length. 41mm nut width. 7 lbs 14oz.
In the 1980's, 48th Street was where the famous would have their guitars custom made. Additionally, big name companies would have their artist models made on 48th Street as well. ESP is well known to have started on 48th. These beauties were hand made and custom order- becoming more rare by the day.
This example is pure 80's awesomeness- 'snakeskin' finish, super thin neck, high output pickups, and a real Floyd. It doesn't get much better than that.
The body here looks to be alder. The medium light weight gives it a fantastic blend of midrange and resonance.
Grabbing up this tone are a trio of humbucker pickups. The bridge pickup is unlabeled but looks to be a Schaller. The middle and neck rails are marked F&C but have all the earmarkings of Dimarzios. These are all high output. The bridge pickup has exceptional gain tones and you would expect. The neck pickup has has fantastic thick sustain, while the 'single coil' size enables good note articulation. Having a 'stacked' hum in the middle position as well opens up some very cool tonal doors as well. This is a monster crunch machine.
This guitar looks to have been built in the Charvel vein, and the neck definitely has that early Charvel feel- just .76" deep at the 5th fret with a flat C profile. Add to that the thin finish and nearly flat fingerboard radius and you have a monster player.
The icing on the cake is the double locking original Made in Germany Schaller Floyd Rose tremolo. This lets you dive into the depths always coming back in tune.
The look here is gorgeous- snakeskin finish, maple board, side dots only, and black & chrome hardware.
This Custom 48 is in good overall condition. There was a headstock repair at some point as you can see in pics. This definitely looks to be an old repair and it is very strong.
The frets here are clean- set up with action of 3/32" at the 12th fret low E.
This auction includes the hardshell in pics.
This is your chance to get your hands on a very rare piece from 48th Street Custom Guitars for the price you want.
Don't pass this by!
