Welcome, you are looking at a great piece.
This is the 2016 Epiphone Viola Electric Bass Guitar.
30.5" scale. 1.63" nut width. 7 lbs 3 oz.
.88"-.95" 1st to 12th fret neck depth.
This absolutely beautiful Epiphone Viola Bass is based on the German-made bass made famous by paul McCartney.
The body of this beauty is hollow, producing a uniquely woody tone full of complex resonance and warmth.
The vintage sunburst finish is impeccable revealing a flamed maple arched top and back, and the designers at Epiphone give a further nod to the classic heritage of this bass with a trapeze-style tail piece and cool aged-pearl control knob panel.
Acoustically this bass sounds just that: acoustic, thanks to its hollow nature.
Put through an amp and the pure, woody tone of this bass comes right across.
The mini-humbuckers produce a pure bass tone that is both full and noise free with clarity and punchy articulation.
When played fingerstyle the Epi Viola Bass produces a tone akin to pizzicato cello; super woody and round, full of expressive dynamics. Played with a pick, ala Sir Paul, this bass produces all the classic, legendary, iconic tones heard on countless historic rock tracks.
Muted pick tones are thumpy and full of thud, while still having full note intelligibility.
And the short scale allows for fast scale runs with wider interval stretches than is achievable on a long scale bass.
Very cool.
The very transparent mini-humbuckers each gets its own volume control and both run into a master tone for dialing in your own personal perfect tone.
The maple set-neck nestles into the palm for one of the most comfortable and effortless playing experiences you're likely to have on a bass.
This features a smooth oval C profile neck with a lovely rosewood fretboard with 22 jumbo frets.
The neck stays comfortably narrow up fast the 12 fret, and the French-curve of the upper and lower 'horns' allows for upper fret access -together they make for a bass that is fast and fun to play.
The bass has been professionally setup to an action of 3/32" at the 12th fret.
The condition of this bass is good as you can see in pictures- typical marks from normal use and the Epi finish stresses on the sides of the neck near the first frets (pics)- nothing that affects the performance.
The frets here are clean, set up with action just over 3/32" at the 12th fret low E.
Don't miss this chance to own the visage of a true icon, not to mention one helluva great bass.
We were an authorized Epiphone dealer for well over a decade.
Don't pass this by.
