Welcome, you are looking at a great vintage piece.
This is the 1993 Martin USA D45 Custom Tex Fletcher Acoustic Electric Guitar.
25.4" scale. 1.69" nut width. 15 5/8" bottom bout. 4.75" deep.
.75"-.92" 1st to 12th fret neck depth.
Martin has been building some of the world's finest acoustic guitars for over a century.
In 1934, Tex Fletcher custom ordered from Martin the iconic first D42 acoustic guitar.
Gene Autry had previously ordered a custom D45 with pearl inlay on the sides.
Fletcher upped the ante by having Martin put his pearl on the front, as well as his name on the fingerboard, so the audience could enjoy it as well.
Fletcher passed away in 1987, and, in 1993 a fan paid homage to his hero by custom ordering this beauty from Martin.
This Martin features the beautiful Fletcher pearl inlay throughout as well as Fletcher's name inlaid at the 14th fret (approved by Mrs Fletcher), but in a D45 style.
Signed by CF Martin IV on the interior.
So, it's gorgeous, but how does it sound?
Incredible.
The spruce top and Indian Rosewood back/sides have aged beautifully over the past 26 years, resulting in sweet mids with a tight bottom end and fantastic natural projection.
The Fishman 332 pickup was factory installed, enabling the natural tone of this instrument to reach the back of the hall.
The neck here has an LP (pronounced oval C) profile- .87" deep at the 5th fret- very comfortable.
The bound ebony fingerboard features Hex inlays and the Tex Fletcher 14th fret inlay.
This Martin has been played, but wears its marks with pride- a few compressions, some small sections of finish stresses on the fingerboard binding, and pick marks on the guard- examples in pics.
Nothing that affects the performance whatsoever.
The frets here are clean- set up with action of just over 3/32" at the 12th fret low E.
This auction includes the original hardshell case in pics.
This is your chance to get your hands on a very rare example (only Fletcher tribute I've seen) as well as an incredible tone machine.
