Welcome, you are bidding on a great piece. This is the 1997 First Year Ibanez Japan AAF-207 7 String Hollowbody Electric Guitar. 25.5" scale. 1.96" nut width. 16 1/8" bottom bout. 2 5/8" deep. 7 lbs.
Ibanez Japan has always been known for their quality builds. And, in the 90's Ibanez began their 7 string lines. They may not have invented the 7 string guitar, but they came a long way in perfecting it.
The AAF model appears to be the Jerry Sims model of the AF-207 and had a list price of $3500.
This one is absolutely gorgeous- the spruce top and maple back/sides create an articulate tone while the large bottom bout and hollowbody design combine to add warm acoustic resonance. A well balanced instrument.
The single neck pickup is a Dimarzio N1 Blaze. Positioned technically in the neck position but a little back, the pickup has deep lows but a bit more high end mids which makes for good note articulation. It is the perfect complement to the natural tone of this guitar.
The positioning also makes this a veratile instrument, can be used for a variety of styles. But, roll back the tone knob, and the quintessential jazz comp tone is right there.
Ibanez Japan has always been known for their comfortable necks, and this one has a fantastic feel.
The three piece mahogany/maple neck is supremely thin and fast- .83" deep at the 5th fret. Add to that the 12" fretboard radius and you have a true player- comfortable chording and a sweet lead feel.
The look here is absolutely gorgeous- sunburst finish showing off some bird's eye figuring on the back, multi-ply bound body/neck/headstock, raised bound pickguard, bound F holes, block inlays, Sure-Grip knobs, and gold hardware.
This Ibanez AAF is in very good+ overall condition- some typical polish swirls and light playwear. A real closet classic.
The frets here are clean- set up with action of 3/32" at the 12th fret low B.
This auction includes the original hardshell case in pics.
This is your chance to get your hands on a rare model from Ibanez Japan- the AAF-207.
