Welcome, you are looking at a great piece.
This is the Vintage 1981 Guild USA X79 Skyhawk Electric Guitar.
24.75" scale length. 1.65" nut width. 6 lbs 8 oz.
.75"-.91" 1st to 12th fret neck depth.
Guild was responsible for some radical designs in the 70's and 80's, and the X was one of their finest.
The X79 was only made from- 1981-85, and this is a first year example.
The body and set neck here are both mahogany. This gives this X great warm lows, sweet mids, and fantastic tone transfer.
The perfect balance for the pickups.
The pickups here are dual humbuckers- 8.50k bridge and 8.45k neck.
Very well balanced.
This slightly pushed vintage output enables big bridge crunch and sweet neck sustains.
The controls consist of a 3 way switch, 2 volumes, and a shared tone.
This gives you access to a wide variety of classic clean and pushed tones.
The neck here offers excellent tone transfer- resulting in a very responsive instrument.
The neck has a thin feel with an oval C profile.
Add to that the 7.25" fretboard radius and you have a fine player.
The look here is gorgeous- radical design, Metallic Red finish (faded to more of an orange), black guard, dot markers, and chrome hardware.
The condition of this Guild is good+/- overall- lots of chips, marks, and crazing from age and normal use as you can see in pics.
The frets here are clean, but worn (frets feel slightly taller than Gibson Fretless Wonders)- set up with action of just about 3/32" at the 12th fret low E.
This auction includes the hardshell case in pics.
This is your chance to get your hands on a great very rare first year Skyhawk.
Don't pass this by!
