Welcome, you are looking at a great piece- feel free to make an offer.
This is the Despagni JEM Custom Number 7 Electric Guitar.
25.5" scale. 42mm nut width. 6 lbs 7 oz.
.76"-.85" 1st to 12th fret neck depth.
Joe Despagni was responsible for some of the coolest designs in 80s rock- most notably Steve Vai's guitars, including the 'Swiss Cheese' and 'Flames' guitars as well as the swirl dipped finishes.
Despagni also made Randy Coven's basses.
This guitar was custom made by Despagni and features his signature radical body style.
This guitar is super light, which not only saves your shoulders, but also enables a fantastic resonant tone.
The pickups here are direct mounted to grab up that resonance.
These pickups look to be Dimarzios, 13.32k bridge, and are custom painted red to match the finish.
Each pickup has its own humbucker/off/split 3 way switch.
2 pickups, many tone options.
The maple/rosewood neck here has a thin, fast feel- .80" deep at the 5th fret with an elliptical C profile.
Add to that the 10"-16" compound radius and you have a fantastic player- comfortable chording and effortless bends.
The icing on the cake is the Gotoh double-locking tremolo- backrouted so you can dive into the depths or pull into the stratosphere.
The look here is absolutely gorgeous- Custom metallic 'flames and numbers' finish, matching headstock, and red/chrome hardware.
This JEM is in good overall condition- there are typical marks from normal use- nothing that affects the tone or playability whatsoever.
The frets here are clean- just professionally set up with action of 3/32" at the 12th fret.
This auction includes a padded gig bag as the body style makes it difficult to fit a case to.
This is your chance to get your hands on a classic Despagni JEM.
